This is good for UT and the Big 12. The better the league is, the more kids will want to be a part of it. We have to continue to do our part on the recruiting front, but I don't know why we wouldn't. Next year's class is already very good and Texas is loaded with talent in the '12 and '13 classes.
Plus, I would imagine that Baylor's run will be relatively short lived, so it's good for them to be good while they can. Either they will get hit with recruiting sanctions, Drew will get a much better job, or both. Either way they will be back to their usual place within the next 5 years.
I've asked this before and got no real good answer. Why is it that Texas can't seem to get even get a sniff from urban Dallas kids. None of the South Oak Cliff kids and now LeBryan Nash. In fact, lately they've been missing out on elite Texas kids (Perry Jones, etc.). We don't seem to have problem getting national kids. I think the last few elite Texas players (McD types) that come to Texas are Aldridge & Gibson. What gives?
Damn! Baylor is cleaning up. Moving up in the basketball world. At least from their recent recruiting standpoint. Perry Jones, Isaiah Austin & now Miller. How are they doing this?
Let's just say that Baylor isn't afraid to take risks and, ahem, cut corners. Texas never recruited Nash, just like it never went hard after Darrell Arthur. There are reasons for this.
There are certain AAU programs in Dallas that UT does not bother recruiting from, due to certain factors. I can't think of any in Houston, but I'm sure there are some.
Amazingly Baylor and OSU have done really well with these programs.
