Criticizing Ann Coulter for being snarky and thoughtlessly insulting toward Obama or anything liberal is kinda like griping about Grizzly Bears poaching salmon. Still it's fun to watch others do it, as was the case with this Special Olympian.The Link

She's a grown woman who can takes what she dishes out. Still even someone as abrasive as Coulter would have to pause and feel perhaps a twinge of guilt and misery after reading it. For the rest of us it's a lesson to never use the word "Retarded" outside a clinical setting.
 
I looked up the word "retarded" in the dictionary, and there is no clinical connotation whatsoever. Down Syndrome is, well, Down Syndrome.

Being retarded encompasses a million things, and to chastise people for using such a generic word because it hurts your feelings is ridiculous.
 
2003TexasGrad, all I know is calling someone retarded is now considered to be extremely offensive, maybe its due to the PC world we now live but all I know is lots of people will jump down your throat for using that word.
 
I agree Roger, for once, but I think people need to take a step back from the ledge, at least part of the time.
 
I'm thinking Roger is a different person than Roger35. Roger35 would never post anything that sensible.

You can put Ann Coulter in my place. She's a hoot. The Left thinks it must destroy any intelligent conservative woman; Palin, Bachmann, Coulter, etc.
 
If she's so intelligent why doesn't she speak, act or write intelligently? I'm sure to get an Ivy League education she must have at one point been able to use facts and logic, but for her entire political career she's just been spouting insults and venting her conservative feelings -- and getting paid nicely for it by the way. She's Don Rickles in a pretty package with a pleasant voice.Nobody needs to destroy her. I just wonder about folks who lap up her nonsense and then pay for more.

And calling someone a c%# because you disagree with her shows a distinct lack of intelligence.
 
No, not at all. Condi Rice is an intelligent woman, probably the sharpest person GW ever hired.

But he didn't list her. He named three bozettes.
 
Maddow is a Rhoades scholar and generally makes solid arguments. You can disagree with her and I often do but comparing her to a dimwit like Coulter is nonsense.

Coulter is garbage. Nobody with an ounce of reason takes her seriously and she hasn't made a cogent argument in her life. She knows what makes her money and she will stick to it. I am also convinced that she has some kind of a drug habit. I have met her twice and she is well beyond awkward.
 
Can't we admit both of these women sacrificed any sort of rational thought when they started making millions through churning out partisan flame material for their respective fringes?
 
Fair enough. I do laugh at people that get so angry about what Maddow or Coulter or other commentators like Bill Maher and Rush Limbaugh put out on the airwaves.

Except for Maher, who I think does fancy himself some sort of intellectual and is trying to find anyone to validate that self-impression, most of these people are laughing all the way to the bank and are hoping for outrage to sustain their business model.
 
Here is the difference -

You can claim that Maddow cherry picks or emphasizes the facts that suit her argument and ignores all else. Fine. I have seen her do it.

Coulter is factually incorrect almost ALL of the time. She isn't cherry picking from a pool of objective facts. She is either inventing garbage or just misunderstanding the information.

They are not at all on the same level.

Coulter isn't a name anyone "drops" She is an absolute disgrace. But I am sure she is deemed a polymath in your sick world.
