Purke again on Sunday?

Why wouldn't TCU run him back out there? Why not? I know it's two days rest but it's the end of the season for them and they saw how we lit them up today....

Long ago the great one's (Grover Cleveland Alexander - I know that's long ago you young 'uns) the could pitch both ends of a double-header. Last year we saw what Austin Wood did.

I wonder if we could take him out if he walked onto the mound?

Lot's of college coaches only think about their careers...

Assuming he would survive with his pro prospects intact, I wonder if his arm could hold up in the short run...

Starting... middle relief... closing... anything... they saw how it got away from them today... I'd be goosey if I was TCU...

It's not going to matter...

It dont make a ****....

They will not risk pitching him on 2 days rest, if he gets injured/dead arm their CWS chances are dead anyways.

okay, I'm guessing we used up their middle relief today?

So for them to win, they have to hope they get a lead and hop on thier closer for 2+ innings, because it's gonna be played in the heat of the day.

Augie used Ruffin on Sunday after throwing 127 pitches on Friday last year against TCU, but Ruffin only threw 7 pitches to get two outs and he was only in the game because Texas' best option for prosecuting a win was ineffective (Wood). For TCU to throw Purke I think it would have to be an incredibly short outing and after their closer (who has some stellar numbers) had become ineffective.

I would be very surprised if Purke even warms up today. We're not talking about just some 19-year old kid, we're talking about a player that turned down millions and entrusted his career to Jim Schlossnagle. Scott Boras (oh that's right Purke doesn't have an agent yet . . . wink, wink) would make a point of "advising" future stud HS pitchers away from TCU if Schlossnagle does anything to hurt jeopardize Purke's payday a year from now.

Plus, Purke wouldn't be working on "2 days rest", but rather 1 days rest. Regardless of adding up the hours from the time he left the mound Friday to when he would take it today, in baseball terminology days rest = days you don't pitch. (for example) A pitcher that starts every 5th day, works on 4 days rest.

My husband is a pitcher and speaks from experience when he says the 2nd day is when the arm is hurting the most. Some pitchers have bull pen sessions to work out that stiffness and maybe that is a routine Perk is in. If that is the case Perk may be able to come in for an inning as his regular bullpen session. But if he hasn't done it, I'm not seeing Perk risking that million dollar arm.

Exactly for the reasons Chest mentioned. I don't know the kid or his ability to bounce back but I don't think even 1 inning would be considered.
