i caught the last half of the game and overtime. Purdue's point guard, FahKara Malone, went out with a pretty gross hand injury in overtime. i read that she has a dislocated ring finger, and she will most likely be out for a while. she is their work horse, averaging 35 minutes per game. my guess is that freshman Brittany Raburn will start while she is out.
I watched part of the game too and hated to see the player get injured. Purdue will be pretty salty at home - but if we play to our potential, we should win.
Does anyone think that we will have trouble listening to the name Brittany Raburn??? I kept hearing the announcers say it and I was hearing Brittany Raven
i'm pretty sure the announcers were saying it right...but maybe not. it is rayburn. it just sounded very similar to me because the announcers were using her full name. so everytime they said brittany rayburn, i kept thinking how much it sounded like brittainey raven.
wouldn't be surprised if MSU struggles without Malone. replacing a point guard/floor leader is tough.
Speaking of Purdue and injuries, wasn't the Purdue game the one inwitch Erika Arriaran tore her ACL 2 years ago in Austin. I think we ended up winning that game though. If Purdue was the one, I know Erika will really be looking forward to this game.
They didn't have anything about Malone's injury in the game story. Wonder if she will play and how effective she will be if she does? Couldn't really find any other guard that seems to be a distributor for Purdue although that could be because Malone plays so many minutes. Their Brit looked to have a pretty high assist average in high school.
Okay, here is a link to a game story talking about Malone’s injury and possible replacements. Doesn’t look too favorable for her playing against the Horns on Monday.
From the Purdue board , more info on Malone's injury--an open dislocation that may require surgery. Sounds nasty and she will definitely be out for our game if this info is correct.
I'm watching Ohio State beat Michigan State by 20 points. I don't think that Michigan State is that good, so Purdue playing them to OT, is diminished somewhat.
