So HRC wants to force people to buy insurance. She's mentioned that penalties will include garnishing wages.
I call ********. No candidate is going to actively enforce these punitives. If HRC is elected, she'll make the punitives ridiculously low and it wont be enforced regardless.
The Massachusetts plan is a good example. Right now, the "fine" for not buying health insurance is about $200 per year. Lets see, pay $200 per year as a fine, or pay $200 per month for health insurance. Thats an easy choice.
Dont believe me? Take a look at car insurance. Its already mandated by law in all 50 states, and every state has penalties including fines up to thousands of dollars.
So with all these punitive measures, why is it that the # of uninsured drivers has remained about 20% regardless? Its because these measures are not enforced. People routinely get away without having car insurance and the exact same thing is going to happen with health insurance.
Universal health care thru a private "forced insurance" system is a pipedream. The punitives will be too weak, and the enforcement of the punitives will be almost non-existent, just like it is for car insurance.
If you want universal healthcare with 100% insurance rates, the ONLY way to to do it is with a socialized government "single payer" model.
