Puerto Vallarta

A couple buddies and i are considering going to Puerto Vallarta for a weekend bday trip in February(thursday - sunday). None of us have ever been there so any recommendations on where to stay or what to do would be appreciated. We want to fish one day but thats all we really plan on scheduling. Any restaurants or activities that are must goto's or do?

took a guys trip there when in medical school about 10 years ago.. stayed at Casa Magna or something..one of the guys is from mexico so he rented a car and we went all over..could not tell you one place we ate but..we went to a foam party, tshirt contests, and some local spots..good trip before starting residency.
