Pudge returns.

Hate to hear this as an Astros fan, Pudge is all class and I wish him well.

Perfect timing for the Rangers, they're probably bringing him in to console the guys as they go through their annual collapse during the home stretch.

Newberg is reporting it's minor leaguer Matt Navarez and a player to be named later. Newberg ranks Navarez somewhere in the late 30s - early 40s in terms of Rangers' farm prospects. Given the state of the Astros farm system, he's probably in the low teens over there...

Good pickup for the Rangers. Salty may or may not be back and Pudge is still solid behind the plate and doesn't strike out 3 times for every hit.

I readily admit not knowing much about baseball, as I'm sure will be proven by this question:

How is it that I hear about trades after the trade deadline?

Players are put on waivers and if they are claimed then you can work out a deal with the team that claimed them or pull them off waivers. If a player goes unclaimed then you can trade them to anyone. Waiver claims I believe start in the reverse order of the standings. Worst record has first right to make a claim on someone. Or in the case a couple of weeks ago, Toronto put Alex Rios on waivers. The White Sox claimed him. Toronto was trying to dump his salary so they let the claim go through and the White Sox ended up with Rios and Toronto didnt get a player in return.

Taylor better step up. Now is the time for him to be a bit more focused at the plate.

Who in this thread is talking about my insignificant has-been mid-tier SEC school other than you? This thread is about Pudge's return, and I was just pointing out that the timing couldn't have been better, as Pudge's veteran leadership will provide a boost of morale to the club as they tank. Is something about that statement false?

Your statement is so absurd it doesn't deserve an answer - though a hint might be that they do in fact already have veteran leadership as witnessed by their year-to-date.

I love Pudge and have always been on record that they should have been about re-signing him. Very ironic that he will come home to retire. I hope he finds some extra little push to help the Rangers now.

Hook'em!!!

Even after all of these years, he never looked right in another uniform. Last night, he looked 10 years younger too. he looked genuinely happy. Welcome home.
