PSU Game 4

Workman starts it off with a 3-pitch K. One thing that annoyed me last year was Texas' frequent inability to tee off on opponents' Sunday starters. I'm assuming PSU's starter today would probably be a mid-week guy the rest of the year. Let's see some hitting.

When you are this close to the "sweep"

and you have a big lead you are kind of just ready for our guys to get out so we can go ahead and get it over with.

We don't want to talk about what Brandon is doing right? OK, I won't.

A 9 pitch 8th inning with nasty stuff. I mean, really nasty stuff - a popup on the first pitch, a weak groundout that made the batter look silly and then a filthy swinging K. Just 84 pitches through 8 innings from Brandon.

Now an HBP and a Rupp double extends the lead to 7-0. Now Hernandez brings in Rupp too .. 8-0

After scoring 2 more, we still had the base loaded with no outs in the bot 8th. I wanted the guys to just get out and have Brandon go out there, rather than have a long-drawn inning. Wish granted. Loy hits into DP andthen a popup. One run scored, and the inning over ..

9-0 we lead and out comes Brandon .. Stay tuned.

Had two walks and an error put players on base .. Two were caught stealing, and the third was erased on a DP in the 7th inning ..

Great play by Hernandez for the first out in the 9th, and then K #9 and K #10 .. Under 100 pitches .. WOW!!! What a job.

Thatis No-No #21 in Texas history, by sophomore Brandon Workman, ladies and gentlemen!

Way to go Horns! Sorry I missed the series... currently at a gate at San Diego A/P waiting for my flight back to Austin. A 4-game sweep by the Horns against PSU and me playing Torrey Pines South in one weekend. It doesn't get much better than that. Well, maybe if we had basketball wins against BU and okie light.
