There's a girl/woman who got her start as the cute little kid on "The Cosby Show" when she was knee high to a grasshopper. She went on to star in her own Disney Channel show titled "That's So Raven".
She and Maria Shriver did a PSA for California telling kids to be prepared for natural disasters and then she did one for the national audience by herself. My old company edited the thing, so loops of those two sounding like idiots reading a card played over and over for days in my office.

Well, it should have been a "Stay In School or You'll Talk Like Me" PSA. Raven's promoting her new album (I think) and in her interview she said this-
In reply to:

Stay in school because you will, likely, not be as wealthy as I. Therefore, people will judge you on your grammar skills as you interview for the $60k job editing my PSAs.

(Minor edit for punctuation. Something I learned in school.)

She is speaking urban English. It is considered proper in many inner city schools. If you think otherwise, you are racist.

I’ll paraphrase what a thick-accented southern rhetoric professor told me. I smarted-off to her about something.

It’s wrong, offensive and disrespectful to correct an adult’s grammar in speech. Speech is not writing, and casual speech includes a person’s historical and cultural identity. You can draw no conclusions of educational ability based on speech. Talk is sacred to each individual, and you should not concern yourself with improving it. Speech is meant to communicate many things, not to serve as a distraction from your penis size.

I have a feeling she was a Mark Twain fan.

yes, i was joking...dont ever judge a man by the way he talks, plenty of big city lawyers have gone into court thinking they were up against a hick and got their asses handed to them.

It's fairly easy to judge a man by the way he talks...

but that's just one part of the man.

It tells much more about a person's PAST than it does about their PRESENT. But it absolutely tells you something about the person... just as my anal behavior does about me. It tells you plenty about my past, but in this case it probably tells a fair amount about my present too.

Just sayin'... But then again, "My Cousin Vinny" taught us all about how someone can talk funny and still be pretty good in court.
