PSA for Sprint users looking for a way out

You can get out of your Sprint wireless contract without paying ETF for the next 30 or so days (could be longer based on your billing cycle). Sprint increased one of their own fees, which is a material change in the terms of the contract you signed to get a subsidized phone.

As you can see from the comments, the chat route is the best way to go. For that reason, the chat application is hidden fairly well on their site. You can find it on this page:

I did this today, and the hardest part was waiting to speak to a retention rep in chat. Took about 20 minutes. Once I got them, it was really easy. Don't give them any other reason for wanting to cancel though.

Umm, those links are dated Jan 2008. How on earth did you get your ETF exemption on Jan _2009_ ? Thinking of jumping from SPCS to ATT for iPhone skrilla and would love the out if I can score one.

I did it this weekend for my wife, then headed directly to Apple store for an iPhone. It absolutely worked.

I am not ready to cancel Sprint yet but would like to get rid of the $200 contract. Can this work for that or is this only if you intend to cancel then and there?

Figured it out. I found the chat when going to the coverage map and then saw a link to chat to an agent.
