PSA: Do not kite surf in a hurricane

If you see some of the other surfers out there, it looks like they do have some kind of harness that they're wearing. I know that they didn't think something like that would happen, but that is just plain dumb. I pray that he makes it through this though.
 
He got hooked up in the lines, a gust drove him into the beach, then picked him up and slammed him into a wall.

The handle in kite surfing is simply to hold onto for balance. The main line from the kite attaches to a harness. Most setups have a safety release of some sort, but I am not sure its designed to function during conditions associated with tropical cyclones. .

Also, the Darwin Awards gives eligibility merely on the basis of being unable to reproduce. Death, sterilization, inability to use ones genitals, etc all qualify.

I used to shake my head at all the nutjobs out surfing at the beach as 100+ MPH gusts blow in from the Gulf during a storm landfall. But this takes the nutjobbery up to an entirely new level.

I hope it turns out okay for the guy, but he obviously has a screw or three missing upstairs somewhere.
