Dropped into HEB this evening- they had pork ribs at $1.49 per pound. Fairly good price (HEB is usually about $2.50-$3 per pound) so I picked up a few. Freeze 'em and cook 'em later!
Yeah, Costco has a similar deal, but HEB is typically $5.00 for lowly pigs and $6 for "organic" pigs. They sometimes go down to $4 for lowly pigs, but the "organic" ones are too "special" to put on sale.
I like my pigs to be raised vegan. Not necessarily "organic", but I don't want them to have eaten dairy, bugs, scraps, a man that got shot at the saloon...
heh, I was hoping I was going to get away with not letting that out. But yes, I'm a Sooner lurker here to steal your superior smoking knowledge from Rusty's Grill.
Yesterday Austin HEB on RR had 0.89 brisket, 199 spare ribs, and 2.99 baby back. There wasn't much brisket selection at the time, but I'm sure they put more out regularly. They seem to be moving towards more trimmed briskets though.
Belden's in Houston (Meyerland) has Whole Briskets for $0.89/lb thus I'd assume HEB will too. The selection is to take one they are all between 12-13 lbs and have very similar looks when looking at the marbling and fat cap
