Project website In reply to: [hr]Traffic Control Information: Motorists can expect a minimum of two eastbound lanes to be open at all times throughout the entire project. Large electronic message boards will be installed on Cesar Chavez about a week in advance of construction alerting motorists to construction start up. Initially, motorists will use the three eastbound lanes on the north side of Cesar Chavez. The two lanes on the south side of Cesar Chavez between San Antonio and Congress will be closed for the work. The first work to take place will be the sidewalk on the south side of the roadway and new turn lanes at S. First St. and at Congress Ave. Info about the Project The project will result in converting the existing one-way five-block segment of Cesar Chavez (between San Antonio and Brazos streets) to two-way traffic. The conversion will eliminate the eastbound section now leading motorists from Cesar Chavez to Brazos to Second Street and back again to Cesar Chavez from San Antonio Street. A 32" wide esplanade will be constructed on the south side of Cesar Chavez between South First and Congress. [hr]
