I'm planning on getting a mod chip for my ps2. I do not have a soldering kit. How hard is it to find a shop in Houston that will solder the chip on for you?
I imagine it would be real hard. If you are nervous about doing it, i would go with one of the companies that will do it for you. As in you physicaly send them your playstation.
I tried to mod my X Box using a solder chipset. It took about an hour and was no where near as easy as the websites make it sound. A drop of solder fell off the iron and hit part of the board. I couldn't get it off and now it won't boot up.
The Xenium modchip allows Xboxes to be modded without soldering, as long as you have a old (not version 1.6) Xbox. Still managed to toast an Xbox with one of those in. It's good for playing avi's on your TV.
For the PS2, there are no solder mods, but they mostly use the slidecard trick. That's what I'd recommend if you're uncomfortable with soldering, and hell, even if you are. PS2's are a pain in the *** to put back together. Premodded ones are as expensive as hell.
