Propecia Reviews

I'm about to start taking Propecia as well as 5% Minoxidil.
I've done quite a bit of research, but I thought I would get some reviews from some posters that have actually taken the stuff.

Thoughts?
Positives/Negatives?

I've been taking it a couple of years, with good result.
Only complaint is how expensive it is. I buy Proscar, which is a prostate drug that is the 5mg dose of Propecia. I cut it with a pill cutter into 5 pieces. Also, if you can, purchase it at a pharmacy in Mexico. For $65, I get approximately 5 month supply.

Have been taking it for almost a decade now. It did what I wanted it to do which was halt the balding process. For me at least, it maintains what I have. I haven't had any real hair growth in my bald spot.

It has stopped, or at least significantly slowed, my balding, and where I had a huge slick-as-a-cue-ball bald spot I was able to grow some hair...mainly fuzz...but enough that co-workers commented they could see a change. That was with Propecia + Rogaine.

Another satisfied user here. It has made a signficant difference on my crown as well as the front. Friends and family all have noticed a considerable difference.

The only negative is cost. Monthly bill is about $60

I've read a lot about people getting Proscar at 5% because Propecia is usually only 1%.
I'm looking into that route.
How long before you guys noticed any type of results?

Also take Proscar because of costs. Have been very happy with the results (been taking it for about two years).

However, I was told you take one 5mg tablet and cut it into four pieces, not five. A pill that size I think would be tough to get into 5 pieces.

From what I have experienced, there isn't a lot of re-growth, its mostly you keep what you already have.....which is fine by me because I was starting to lose hair quickly.

as i have mentioned to others on this site, you can order finasteride on line at chemical research sites for a fraction of the cost of proscar or propecia.

ag-guys.com has it and so does chemoneresearch.com. i have been taking it for almost a year and it works great.

my monthly bill? about $10.

I started using a non-prescript product called hair raiser by Billy Jealousy from Dallas.

it costs about $75/month.

I am not shitting any of you. it has been jsut 3 months, and i have all kinds of new hair growing on my scalp.

I am going to add propecdia to my regimen, but I wanted to evaluate this topical first, so i didn't uneccessarily keep using it, if it was really the pill doing the work.

The main thing to remember is that pregnant women should not be around it and especially not even a drop on their skin. It causes birth defects quite easily. If you have a pregnant wife, just get it out of the house and be bald. Not worth the risk. A spill in the sink, and she cleans it up-don't even want to think about it. But if that isn't a danger in your house, have at it.

I know alot of guys who stop taking it because they don't think its doing any good, only to have a ton of hair fall out at once upon stopping it.

I'm another Proscar user who cuts them into four pieces. Honestly, I don't know if it's helping but I'm going to keep trying.

One word of advice for everyone -

Let it go. Just let it go man. Its normal. Its part of life. Just keep it high and tight - the more you try to hide it, the more it is blatantly obvious.

Its liberating. Keep your hair short and embrace it. Don't shave it bald unless you got a nice perfectly rounded dome or you will look like Ron Howard's brother.

7 Iron, I feel you. I shave mine with a 2 and I'm cool with that. but I would also like to keep what I have and still shave it close.
No way can I shave with a razor.

I guess I have a good head for it, people say so, and did when I was a baby.

But I shave that rascal. It's easy with a headblade.

HOOKEM

Never tried the Headblade. The MACH 3 works just fine up top.I think 7 Iron is advising following this picture's lead.

Both my wife and the woman who cuts my hair have said they have seen a noticeable difference. I guess I don't notice it because I see my hair every day but looking at old pictures, there is certainly a difference.

And when I said earlier, you don't grow anything back, that isn't entirely true. I have experienced hair follices that we close to falling out (or really thin) growing back full so "in theory", there is re-growth.

If I hadn't started taking it I would likely be bald (and I'm 29). I still have a lot of hair and it continues to look thicker the longer I take it. A 3 month supply costs me about $90.
