Prom Dinner plans

I need some help! I'm from about 60 miles north of Austin, and I'm looking for a place to eat for prom with about 5 other couples. For those of you that went to public schools, that's 12 total people. We'd prefer something north of the 40 Acres, in the $15-$35 range. I think we're leaning Italian, but anything that isn't completely foreign and exotic would probably work. Any help would be wonderful!

We had a group about that size go to Carmello's for a prom I went to about 5-6 years ago. It's about that price and it's Italian, but it's downtown, so it wouldn't be north of UT. It was good though.

We drove to Mexico the night of my senior prom. I don't know about the Italian food, but the Mexican food was pretty good.

I ate at the "Y" for my prom!! All it cost was a handle of Jack. That's always my first option of places to eat. You can have a main course and dessert at the same time and with 5 couples, thats a hell of a good time!!

$15-$35???
Olive Garden is about what you're gonna get for that ****. What kinda poor *** private school kids are you? We went to Shoreline Grille and spent like $50-75 per person. I took my girl to Ruth's Chris a couple of weeks ago and dropped $140 w/o alcohol and I'm a college student. Maybe you should get a job before you go to prom.

If you are North of town (assuming I-35) you ought to try Gumbo's off 620 right by the railroad tracks about 1/4 mile from 35.

Damn good food in the price range you are looking for. Prtions are good and the service is excellent as well. Definitely make a reservation for a group outing. Best of all it has the "downtown" feel without having to go the extra 25 miles to downtown Austin. The Link

Gave my folks a gift certificate for christmas and they come down from Temple to go to lunch and rave about it to me. Best choice from the North with a wide variety of food.

My pet peeve is protions and you get a good portion at Gumbo's.

Yeah, I gotta agree with the consensus that you should spend more money... particularly if this is your senior prom. I went to the Mansion in Dallas for my senior prom and dropped something like $200 for myself and my date... Plus, I ate antelope, and it was amazing.

Also, don't go anywhere the girls have ever heard of... It makes it seem like you tried harder.
