Problems w/ music CD in PC

When I put a music CD in my PC, it starts playing it austomatically, but there is no player that comes up, no way to stop it, switch tracks, etc. If I open my media player, it will switch track s and everything, play the songs I select, but the CD keeps playing from when I put it in, so that there are baisically 2 songs playing at once, one I can control, one I can't.

I have an almost brand new machine, eMachines PC Windows XP. I'm confused.

Oh, and it only does it if it is a plain audio CD. I had another CD that had some multimedia files on it, stuff like links to the artist's web page and stuff like that, and that one was able to be controlled fine.

Well, I think I fixed, but I don't know how. I just closed my media player and took the cd out, then inserted the cd again, and then opened the media player.

do CNTRL+ALT+DEL and look at the processes. there should be some program in there that's playing it.

That was the confusing thing, there wasn't anything in either the running progra,s or processes that was contolling it. But it was jsut a one time, weird deal.
