Some strange curvy configurations there. Looks like more than a few Hilton HHonor rooms adjacent to the park. Ample parking available at the Qwest Center (but how will they assign it?). Looks like the best of a bad situation (leaving Rosenblatt).
cons:
1. Blatt didn't need to be replaced
2. not as personal as the Blatt
pros:
1. Beautiful stadium
2. more seats= more people can see Texas whoop that ***....in person
i think the new location is great. New stadium experience? i will have to get back to you on that. rosenblatt was a pain in the *** to park and get to. I like the thought of staying downtown and not having to get in the car again for a week if i dont want to.
Dont get me wrong I loved the blatt and saw a lot of games there. I just think this stadium will be easier to attend and then party afterwards!!!
The seats may be a little farther away but with the curve in the aisles they all face the field better............and if that dosen't work for those that loved Rosenblatt ( myself included) remember only one school/team can win the first CWS there........... (as UT did in 1950). The start of a new home field begins in 2011!
Parking in the field across the highway or in that neighborhood around the Blatt was a pain. I like the idea of walking from the Old Market area. The big question mark is tailgating space. We need NebLHAB to do some reconnaissance for us.
Bring LOTS AND LOTS of money. If you DO bring lots of money and plan way ahead, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Hilton Omaha and Holiday Inn Downtown are a block or less from the ballpark.
This site should impart a sense of how we'll be loved and welcomed come June. The Link
Heard the park faces southeast toward the Missouri River from Home Plate. That would make it a LF hitters dream when the wind is out of the north. Lotta foul balls to LF when the wind is out of the south, which it is most of the time.
15 degrees here this morning and still have most of last weekend's snow on the ground. Eat your hearts out.
Based on NebLHAB's map link, it looks like there will be plenty of tailgating options in nearby surface lots. And I can imagine the Texas Exes commandeering hospitality suites in the nearby Hilton or Qwest Center. I think it is going to be allsome.
