Premier League Tix

I will be in the UK in March and was curious as to the best process for acquiring tickets to a premier league game.

Do I use a broker? Do I use the team website? Do I use something like seatexchange?

Any recommendations would be helpful.

Thanks.

It depends on the team. Which team(s) are you interested in seeing? Some sell out every match and some don't.

Tickets usually go on general sale about 2-3 weeks in advance, if available.

You can also write to the club and mention that you'll visiting the UK and would love to see a match. That will sometimes work as long as you're not asking for tickets against a major rival or for a European (ie Champions League or UEFA cup) game.

Agree with Texon. It totally depends on what teams are playing. Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal, and Liverpool are tough tickets. Other clubs, not so much

Will be in town the same weekend MANU v L'Pool. Despite how difficult this ticket willbe, this is the game i was hoping to see.

I am preparted to pay top dollar, but am just nervous about ticket brokers.

Scalping...err umm, brokering, is illegal in England. You can't buy Prem League tickets from any broker, in the US or the UK. If you see someone selling them in the US, they are fakes.

UK have initiated an anti-scalping law to stop ticket transfering in the interest of curbing hooliganism. If you get caught at a match trying to get in with a scalped ticket, you will get arrested. Don't risk it.

Effectively, the only (safe - legal) way to get tickets would be to buy straight from the club of your choice for the match you want.

that match is at Manchester, so I assume you're a United fan?

If not - remember there is strict segregation at UK soccer matches between fans especially for LFC/ManU. If you are a Liverpool fan (cheering and wearing LFC scarf etc) and you are sitting outside the "away supporters" section you will be moved, probably out of the grounds, by the stewards for your own safety. It would be virtually impossible to get an away supporter ticket.

It will still be a very difficult ticket to get in the rest of stadium. As you know, it's one of the biggest and nastiest rivalries. I'd try with the club first and sometimes they have corporate/hospitality packages that give you an overpriced crappy meal and a ticket for a lot of cash.

Thanks Guys.

I am a ManU fan but will actually be going to multiple EPL games over a 10 day period. You have confirmed my suspicion regarding brokers and the difficulty of getting these tix.

TexonLongIsland.. Thanks again for everything.. As much a ManU fan as I am, my two fav players that dont play for the devils are on Liverpool.. Love me some Gerrard and Torres.

That is the primary appeal of this game. two birds with one stone and all...

Have you heard of or had any experience with any of these firms:

showtime tickets
worldticketshop
footballticketshop
ticketbay
euroteam.net

These were the firms my wife contacted about tix that actually responded.

We have also checked into the package deal being offered at OT and it may be the way we are leaning.. or then again.. we may just go find a pub close to OT and watch the game there.

What a show indeed. Thanks for posting that Texon.

Just curious in general; what draws someone to being a LFC or ManUre fan? Is it ancestral heritage, or some other personal affinity for that team? Or is it just the bandwagon effect because those teams are always good and it's just easy?

You may find this story a bit humorous. I know a guy from Liverpool who lives in Houston. He has a big LIVERPOOL FC tattoo on his forearm and his family are big time supporters. His brother married a Liverpool girl from a family of Everton supporters. The Liverpool dad will not allow his Everton daughter-in-law to enter his house. They have been married 18 years and have 3 kids. The kids can come into the house but not their mother. True story.
