Predict Texans' #1 Pick

Not sure what to make of Bridgewater, or Clowney. The former had an average pro day at best, while the latter had one of the best ever for a defensive lineman.

I guess one has to take a single performance with a grain of salt compared to their body of work throughout their college careers. That's where Bridgewater has consistently excelled and the questions arise regarding Clowney's inconsistency.

I still believe Bridgewater is the best QB in the draft and Clowney COULD be the best player overall IF he really wants to be - and that's a big if.

I still think it's either Clowney, or a trade down for the Texans and Bridgewater goes to someone like Jacksonville.

Clowney or trade down.

Manziel will go as a late pick to a team not critical at QB.

If Texans really need to gamble on a QB, to make it a #1 pick, it should be Bortles.

Trade down, get one good trade and a couple of picks. Maybe trade down to the Ten or Twelve spot to get a QB but not the one the team willing to trade up coveted.

If they want to really make a splash, at least in Texas (or 3/4 of it), they can bring Vince Young in as a back up to compete.

No one because Clowney is the number one pick, but the Texans don't want to take that chance, so they trade with some team willing to gamble on him.

They trade it for a package of 6 picks to the Cowboys who then take the no blocking, T-Rex armed TE Jace Amaro with the 1st pick.

If seeking a QB with their 1st pick, they trade down. Even Garoppolo is a really talented QB and he's 4th or 5th ranked in list. Gonna be a little hard to find a trade up partner with so much talent at key positions and not much separation between the top 3 players in each (minus Clowney). Not to mention the great depth of this draft overall. Unusual number of projected 3rd and 4th rounders who will be very solid pro starters. Not a wise move to surrender a bunch of picks in this one if you are a subpar team needing more than a few pieces.

Still, my hunch is O'Brien likes Bortles most but not 1st overall. He also has an alternate QB choice in mind beyond the Big 3 if it comes to that. Sure he'd like to build his team with a bigger assortment of his own guys that fit his style.

In the end, someone takes the bait and Texans trade out. The team going up is either targeting Manziel or Clowney, athletic freaks at their position. No way I see someone in the top10 mortgage their draft on Bortles or Bridgewater. Neither is close to an Andrew Luck type of guarantee. Manziel isn't either but I know his flashy play has wooed someone to fall in love. Not O'Brien. Anyone sitting beyond top10 would have to surrender this year's draft and some of next. Not happening this year.

Clowney if you want potential. I wouldn't risk the pick pick on potential however. Much like Manziel you have serious questions about professional integrity. Both seem to have a "give a sh**" attitude toward their coaches and mentors. Trade down, someone (Raiders?) is always willing to gamble with their franchise trying to catch a magic bean. One of the 2 may turn out to actually want to improve..

I don't think Bortles or Bridgewater will be any good. I don't see either being any better than an average NFL starter.

I do think Manziel will be good. He's too athletic and too accurate. I think he'll do really well.

I'm not sure about Clowney. He will be somewhere between Mario Williams and DeMarcus Ware probably....which is decent to good.

Knowing the Texans history though, they will probably do something dumb, like draft Bortles.

Not sure but I find it very interesting that aggy is in the same position that we were in with VY in 2006. They will be really pissed if their boy does not get picked. I love it when aggy is pissed off.

What is Clowney worth? Will the Texans get a #1 draft pick for him? Multiple?

I think it's ironic that they are looking to trade away Clowney, when they are lead by a bunch of clowns.

The leadership of this team has no plan and no vision. They have a good QB and they let him get pounded every week because they don't invest in a line to help protect him.

Whatever they get for him, they need to use it to get a offensive line.
