Predict Horns vs UT El Paso

I did not watch the game against SFA, but UTEP seems to have generally had their way with the 'jacks. The per-carry average for the leading rusher was impressive, so I looked at the scoring plays...no big breakaway runs for a score. QB was not overly gaudy with the passing, but he was efficient, to the extent that 17-28 is efficient for ~210 yards is efficient. UTEP was favored and did cover, but the game went under. Was this because of both schools allegedly fixing weak defenses or do both offenses just leave something to be desired. We'll know more this week...

Texas comes in giving 43 points. O/U is currently at 58.5, which suggests blowout along the lines of 51-7 if you took the under and give the points. Personally, this is too many points to give up, especially against a team that does at least have a real game under their contact. Texas HAS to be concerned about some level of injury related to the shortened season, so second and third-team SHOULD be in during second half of the game. Sam should ALSO not be playing the full game...get the Hypesman highlights in the first half and then kick the everloving crap out of the land-thieves before a national audience.

Pre-pick analysis having largely been completed since some of you uphauling idoits don't care anyhow...take the UTEP points and the over for this season-opening win.

I’m not, but maybe someone else wants to run with it. It was fun but it ended up taking way more time than I expected, and I don’t have the bandwidth this year.

I don’t want to spoil the angst but all you have to do to identify the winner is to search the thread with various numbers that are close to team scores. The system could be closest to UT score and the tie breaker is closest to opponent score. Shouldn’t take more than 1 minute to identify the winner.

I really don't think this is going to be a cakewalk. I think Texas will pull away in the second half, but UTEP has played a game so Texas may keep them in the game in the first half with mishaps, penalties and turnovers.

This was close to my pick, but yours is closer to final score than mine. Horns would have scored 70 in three quarters if Sam had stayed in. :smile1:

That being said, I am very glad Sam got out when he did, and that Thompson got good playing time.
Sam played wonderfully, and looks every bit Heisman worthy. :hookem:
