Pre-Game Warm-Up Observation

Yesterday during the pre-game warm-up I noticed that our punter was "booming" regular style punts (i.e. non-roll out, non-Australian, non-rugby style). He was getting good distance and decent hang time. I assume that he is told to do the rugby style punt because the coaches are scared of a potential punt return. I wish they would let him punt a "regular" style punt once in awhile. I miss the days of a 45 yard punt with a 4.0+ second hang time. Surely we can cover. Correct?

I know there is no pressure during warm-ups, but I'd like to see a "regular" punt every now and then.

The 2 things that cannot happen when you are trying to run out the clock during the 4th quarter: (1) Offensive Holding calls (2) Shanked punts.

Interesting observation. I imagine going to the rugby style punt was in response to all of our previous punt protection issues. One thing is for certain, we need better production from that position.
