Pre-Game Music

A buddy told me that we're rolling during pre-game with Mylee Cyrus and Lady Gaga on the loudspeakers. Is this true? If so, Good God!!! WTF!!!

Out of the litany of problems this thing has right now, does our pre-game music have to be one of them?

I resent the use of canned music (especially noticeable on kickoffs) completely and totally. It makes us no different from everyone else now. What about band, of which I was a member in 1969-70, which was SUCH an integral part of the gameday experience? Did I miss it or did Nebraska NOT use canned music?

I hate falling in line with every other school and training the crowd, like Pavlov's dog, to respond to the idiotic new approach using canned music to "get them excited," as if you couldn't otherwise.

Is there ANY way to change this?

Well, another poster emailed Belmont about this kind of thing and the response he got was that it was the players who requested it. I don't see them changing it if that's the case, although it seems to be clear that it's not having much of an effect.

But my topic was more on Mylee Cyrus and Lady Gaga pre-game. I know I've been off the 40 for ten years now, but certainly the players aren't requesting that crap? Right?

Speaking of pre-game music, what's the name of the song they play on the Godzillatron when they show the players walking through the fieldhouse towards the tunnel?

Sorry, thought you were talking about the song they play when the pre-game video starts with the Google Earth view then ends up zooming in on DKR.

So, what song are you talking about?

Ha, I guess I'll have to pay more attention tomorrow night

I thought they showed the players touching the horns during the pre-game video.

That's too bad ... I hate this development, and what does it say about the role of the band, which was always something that made college football unique. Sure I was a member of the band in 1969-70 and may be a little prejudiced, but it seems to be a slap in the face to them, and if they're doing it at the request of the players, well excuse me, but we all count too.

UNL has been playing Men In Black since the movie was in the theatres and their defense really were the Blackshirts.
