Powerpoint Video Question

If anyone knows anything about powerpoint, I have an issue. I'm running Office XP and have Powerpoint 2003. My problem.... I have some slides that have video clips that have been inserted into the slide and there is also text that needs to be viewed on the slide while the video is playing. On my laptop, no problem, all is well and plays like it is supposed to. When I hook it up to the projector for a presentation, what is coming out of the projector is ONLY the video taking up the entire slide. There is no slide background or content that is still visible on my laptop screen at the same time.

I can't figure it out for the life of me. Is it the older version of powerpoint that is the problem? It just doesn't make sense to me why I can see what I want to see on the laptop, but coming out of the projector, I get video only. If I put my presentation on a newer laptop in the office, all works fine.
