Post-wedding brunch

The day after our wedding we would like to have a post-wedding brunch with the bridal party and family members.

We wanted to do it at Juan in a Million, but they wont do a private party on a Sunday.

There will be about 40 in the party, and we are looking for something distinctly Austin. Any suggestions?

expect a larger than normal cancellation rate. just a heads up. we had something similar at el arroyo downtown after ours. it wasn't something big but i would say about 1/2 of the people came. many slept in from having a good time at the wedding and alot took off back to dallas/SA/houston.

we had a good time but i am just saying don't be surprised if the turnout isn't as great as you think (you said ~40).

I was the best man in a wedding where the bride's parents wanted a brunch the day after out at their house -- 40 miles outside of Dallas -- the wedding was in downtown Dallas. No one RSVP'd but they had the caterer out there anyway. It was horrible for them when no one other than the family of the bride showed up. The bride and groom were already gone and everyone else headed for the airport or Austin/Houston/San Antonio, etc.

People view the wedding as over after the reception, so I agree the cancellation rate will be high for a morning after brunch.

Ditto the "bad idea." If you're going to do it, do it someplace where you just get a reservation for a big table, and can cut back on that reservation that morning if a lot of folks don't show up.

2 of my friends have had the post-wedding brunch and i was in the wedding too and for both for various reasons, i didn't go. various = hungover.

;-)

anyway, for the one we had after our wedding, it was very casual. we invited mostly our friends as our family were all going home.... it was mostly my friends who showed and i think my wife was a bit hurt but then i reminded her that everyone had a good time....

anyway, i personally didn't care. i had alot of catching up to do in the drinking dept. ;-) seriously i had a few drinks, some chips and queso and some food and i had a good time with about 10 of our friends there. that's enough for me.
