what type of nite life does your woman like? it all depends on her mood. there are quite a few places that i can suggest if you want to have a blast or some places that will make her forget about cali.

I was in your exact situation once... You can't go wrong with Zilker Park/Barton Springs/Presidential Library/Lake Austin during day.
To eat: anywhere on lake austin: hula hut/sam hill/the pier... Central market for lunch... eastside cafe for dinner.
for drinks: $the street is a winner. avoid drunk 18 year olds on 6th. try malaga, gingerman, etc.
