Possum Kingdom

I think the wife and I have decided to make a getaway to Possum Kingdom Lake this weekend. We've never been but have heard good things, and it's not too far to drive. I think we've found a B&B that's not far from the lake to stay at, but any recommendations on restaurants/things to do (or lodging if you have any strong recommendations)? We don't have a boat, but do like hiking.

Check out the Wildcatter Ranch outside of Graham. It's just a few minutes away from PK. Brand new restaurant, and they offer horseback riding, canoeing (sp?), and possibly hiking. In April they should have some cabins available for rent.

They have a website - wildcatterranch.com.

PM me if you need more details. I can put you in touch with them.

Lake PK. Got to play the golf course there, The Cliffs. Toughest course in Texas IMO. And I've played the TPCs, La Cantera, etc.

A Lake in Young County or a love song by The Toadies.

Make up your mind
Decide to walk with me
Around the lake tonight
Around the lake tonight
By my side
By my side
I'm not gonna lie
I'll not be a gentleman
Behind the boathouse
I'll show you my dark secret

I'm not gonna lie
I want you for mine
My blushing bride
My lover, be my lover, yeah...

Don't be afraid
I didn't mean to scare you
So help me, Jesus

I can promise you
You'll stay as beautiful
With dark hair
And soft skin...forever
Forever

Make up your mind
Make up your mind
And I'll promise you
I will treat you well
My sweet angel
So help me, Jesus

Give it up to me
Give it up to me
Do you wanna be
My angel?
So help me!
Be my angel

Do you wanna die?

I promise you
I will treat you well
My sweet angel
So help me, Jesus

so... do you wanna die or not?
wait, what is that song even abou?. Great song, but I have no idea its purpose. I know Tyler is about rape, and is a good song too but freaky.

BOO....In case you're really interested, one story about where Possum Kingdom got its name...

In 1906 Ike Sablosky moved from Pennsylvania to the area for health purposes. He got into the hide and fur business, and got most of his possum furs from suppliers in Northwest Palo Pinto County. Ike called his suppliers, "The boys from Possum Kingdom." Apparently, the name stuck.

Mr. Sablosky went on to become a millionaire in the insurance business in Dallas. He even owned the Dallas baseball team of the old Texas League at one point.

I have no idea if this story is true or not, but it's published in the PK Lake 2005 Visitor Guide.

Your missing the NCAA Tourney for a lake with no boat ?

Trust me, I'll be watching most of the tourney - we'll only be gone Sunday through Tuesday. We just need a getaway for a couple of days - we originally planned on going to The Big Easy but time and money constraints put the kibosh on that, so we wanted someplace close but still rural.
