I just wanted to give a shout out to a place called Portabla over on W 6th (around Z-Tejas). Not only is the food cheap and delicious, but it is a good place for a date. You can bring your own wine, no corkage fee. The owner, Mark, is also one of the cooks and was really great to us.

I am amazed that place has managed to stay in business. It never looks crowded. Glad they have survived so far...

Probably because it isn't really a sit-down place - they don't have a lot of tables. They seem to advertise themselves as a take-out place.

Friedns with the owner and one of the chefs. Good food, not too expensive and easy to get in and out of. I highly recommend it.
