Port A boat rental

I am planning my annual trip to the Part A area and don't plan on taking my boat this year. I like to fish the shallow bays for trout and fish the jetties for reds so I don't need a large boat. I have only found one outfitter on Aransas Pass that has small boats for $150 per day.. Does anyone have any advice for other boat rentals?

Kayak it! You can rent a yak and there are plenty of yak trails very close to Port A. Good fishing too!

Can you get out towards the end of the jetties in a kayak safely? I know there is a pretty strong current going in and out of the bay during the day.

I would not take a kayak out to the end the jetties and I've been SW fishing out of a kayak for 5 years. Did you try marinas toward Rockport? 2CoolFishing is probably the best place to ask this question. The Link

http://www.littlebaymarine.com Mowdy's and a variety of bay craft, but more than $150 a day

Probably going to find the gas isn't going to get offset by renting rahter than hauling your own boat... if that was your thinking.

There is also a place that rent's little john boats for about $90 a day I think it was called the "crabman marina"

Uh... and no you don't want your kayak near the end of the jetty's unless you are on the incoming tide and want to get washed into the bay... ;-) (as opposed to out to sea)

Thanks for the info. and links guys. I just don't know if I could fish out of a kayak comfortably. I'm a pretty good size guy with a bad knee. I found an outfitter called Mikes Boat Rentals located in Aransas Pass. He has 16' alum. boats with 15 horse motors for $100 bucks per day. That sounds like a hell of a deal. I'll call them to see if this deal is legit and let ya'll know.

There's a place on the left side of the causeway on the way to PA that rents bay boats for the half day or full day. That may be the place that you listed for $150 a day. I've checked them out and they're in decent shape, but I've always decided to kayak the past several years. During the week it didn't look like there would be any problem getting one, but on the weekend you'd want to have a reservation.
