polaris booster pump electrical removal...

Ok, really specific question here, hopefully someone can help...

My polaris booster pump has sprung a leak (the rotating seal has failed and water is leaking down the drive shaft). I can take the pump into a Warehouse Pool Supply and they will replace the seal for the cost of parts (~$5). Obviously this is the best solution...

The problem I have is how do I disconnect the electrical to the booster pump? Mine has a grey conduit that looks like it screws into the pump. I imagine I will unscrew that conduit and find a bunch of hard wired connections? Are they just screwed on so I can simply unscrew them off? Should they be color coded so I don't muck it up when I screw it back together? Naturally, I'll be flipping the breaker before I do this.

I did this about 7-8 years ago, mine were all screwed on so getting them off wasn't a big deal, but while the wires were color-coded it wasn't real apparent from the housing which wire went where. However, if you just take a couple of pictures with a digital camera you should be good, plus if you take it into Warehouse when you go to pick it up, they should be able to verify for you...

photos work
but I also label the wires coming out of the conduit
the terminals should have numbers, just wrap some tape around each wire and write the terminal number

you'll definitely screw the motor up if you rewire to incorrect terminal, most pumps can be wire for 110 V and 220 V

also, for the "scream like a little girl" factor be sure to turn the breaker off (that supplies the power yo your pump)

overall, it really is a pretty easy task, especially if you have done minor wiring jobs in your home (plugs, switches, light sockets, etc.)
