Plucker's Fried Twinkies

Man, I love Plucker's wings, but I found out today they have some awesome deserts, too. I'm a Plucker's Club member (it's worth it, I joined at the beggining of March, and I've already received 2 $10 gift certificates) and the member's special this month is free fried twinkies.

Now I normaly avoid fried desert food, in fact I usually avoid desert in general, but when it's free it's hard to pass up. I went ahead and ordered it, not knowing what to expect.

It turn's out it's two twinkies, frozen over night, then dipped in pancake batter and fried, then served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate and caramel syrup.

Probably one of the more unhealthier things I've ever put in my body (at least I shared it with the whole table instead of eating it myself), but also one of the best tasting. I would describe the taste as a cream filled funnel cake.

So if you want a tasty (albeit it amazingly unhealthy) desert, check it out.

My roommates and I tried to deep fry an Oatmeal Creame Pie last year. It didn't work at all. It just disintegrated as soon as it hit the oil.

007--the year before the State Fair had Fried Twinkie's, I'm guessing they will have something new this fall

I think it's worth it. Whenever I go, tis usually with a large group, so the whole bill ends up earning "points" on my membership. Plus the free member specials are nice, and the free meal on your birthday is pretty cool too. I only go about once a month or every 3 weeks or so, and it's been worthwhile for me.

Pluckers wings are so good.

Question, though....Does anyone know where I can get some good smoked wings that have been BBQed and not fried? I had some decent ones at the Green Mesquite, but they had too much sauce and were a little sweet for my liking.

I tried the fried ice cream at Hula Hut. Don't ask how you fry ice cream, I have no idea, and it wasn't that good.

the place that does the chicken fried bacon is off of east cesar chavez/1st. i have passed by it before. can't remember the name.

lately, the service at pluckers has been excurciating slow so much that my friends don't want to eat lunch there b/c we end up taking at least 90 minute lunch.

The Central Pluckers or the North Pluckers? The service at the Central Pluckers has been terrible for years and many of my work friends refuse to go there for the same reason. The service at the North locaiton has always been decent though.

Had Pluckers for the first time tonight, and wasn't all that impressed. First off, I hate cheap *** places that charge for more than one tiny side of dressing. So I got all these wings, and 1/2 oz. of dressing to go with it, that makes perfect sense. Anway, the fried pickels were good, but I think Hooters sauce that they serve with the pickels taste better. Great price on the beer, even though I didn't get one, but I will next time. All in all it was just another wings place to me. Back to the dressing thing, their blue cheese was damn good.
