I work and stay in downtown Dallas during the week and would appreciate some recommendations for good sushi. I am tired of Deep Sushi.

Thanks!

Haven't been here yet for "open to public" service, but we attended a private industry party there just prior to their opening, and it was quite good.

Very near Downtown:

Oishii (Wycliff just west of the Tollway next to Sal's Pizza - don't be fooled by the shopping strip location/facade....it gets very high marks)

Sushi Zushi (Turtle Creek Village)

Little Katana (Travis just south of Knox)

Thanks, y'all. The only place I have within walking distance where I stay each week (Adam's Mark) is Sushi Japan and it's not good.

Oishii is very good. Sushi is good, and the other dishes like teriyaki if you go with someone who is not a sushi fan. And the wine is super reasonable for a restaurant.

don't know if they still have it or not but on Tuesday nights they have dollar sushi at Oishi...and its pretty good. pretty pretty good

I lived in NYC before moving to Dallas and have done every high end sushi restaurant in the city so that is my point of reference.

Sushi Zushi is marginal compared to some of the others....

Steel, Tei Tei, are Teppo all very very good. Nobu is better than Sushi Zushi but not as good as the other three. It is also expensive relative to the quality. Steel is at about the same price point and i think its much better than nobu.

Never done Oishi, but I have heard good things.

Look, I've been to some of the best sushi restaurants in the country myself so I know that SZ isn't the best, but as C-Man pointed out the price to deliciousness ratio is very high. Why break a brothers bank when you can send him down the road to a delicious place that will leave him with enough $ to hit up Baby Dolls for dessert?

Oishi is greatness. To put it in perspective, a friend of mine had a blowout wedding. The reception was at the Nasher Sculpture Garden with Naser there as host and was catered by two people--Dean Fearing (who was there serving people himself) and the owner of Oishi.
