No wonder Stevens and all the others kept requestiong additional security.

I read in a Mark Steyn article that the security of the US consulate in Libya was outsourced to a private security firm based out of Wales. The name is some thing like Blue Mountain. That company then hired Libyans to protect the US consulate there because the US govt's budget was something like $300,000/yr. So they were forced to basically provide little to no security.

There are many mistakes that the administration made that led to this, whether the Libyan guards were armed or unarmed is inconsequential.

2 of the guards being held for questioning have already mentioned being armed in various interviews with media. The 2 that ran to the roof of the building and hid mentioned having a clip of ammunition between them by the time they abandoned their posts and got to the roof.
