Playing video at reunion-need projector advice

I have about 1400 photos on a flash drive disk that we were supposed to be playing at our 30 year reunion tonight. The pictures are in perfect order & played fine on my desktop & laptop, except for some pages scanned from HS annuals that had mulitple pics (6 or so) on one page. Those were kind of small to see. The guy in charge of doing the power point projector assured me that they'd even look great on his projector.
That was Wednesday night. At 3 am this morning I get a message from him saying he's "getting bogged down in the works" (whatever that means) & he may have to remove all the annual photos except class pictures. If we do that, the video will suck.

Does anybody know if there's a projector I can buy (preferably under $500) or rent, where all I've got to do is find a big white wall, then turn it on & put in my disk.
I'd really appreciate any advice. I've got about 10 hours to come up with something.

In my very limited experience, Lumens are more important than anything else for what you are trying to do. There are places to rent them, but a one day rental seems to run about 25% of the cost of owning it. The ******* cables to connect computer to projector are not cheap even though they should be.

FYI, you can go to a good camera supply store and buy a 10 foot wide sheet of paper for $45 that is an excellent disposable screen. I left one in a hotel in Ft Worth last spring. I had been chaperone for the water polo team my son plays on in the state tournament at Southlake Carroll. Kept them from doing less wholesome things.

If you have a lawyer (litigator) friend, that friend will know how to get hands on a rentsl.
