Player Promotion

Anyone else ever been frustrated with their high school's inability to properly promote outstanding players to Div. 1 schools? Part of it, no doubt, is based on the type of offense or defense that the school chooses to run but I can't help thinking that some of the kids I played with in high school could have made it to a Div. IA school with some help from the coaching staff. Anyone care to explain how you help promote a great kid to places like Texas?
