Hey, I just had to replace one of my headlights on my accord. It is noticably clearer than the other....its a 2001. Is there a way to 'clear up' the other headlight short of replacing the bastard at $258?!?
If you do a google search on "headlight uv cloudy cleaner" you'll get a bunch of links to kits for $20-$40. Most seem to involve an electric drill and some sort of polishing compound.
I've had good luck with polishing compound and a buffer. It takes a while, but it does come out. From what I understand, it's the polycarbonate (probably more than just PC) lens depolymerizing from UV exposure, and the only solution is to remove the depolymerized material (polishing or super light sanding/steel wool).
You can buff the headlight cover with polishing compound, and it will look amazingly better. Also, the bulbs gradually get less bright, so you might go buy a new halogen bulb (might have two) for about $12-$15 each-sometimes they are noticeably brighter.
