Planting rose bushes

I plan on building some planters to put rose bushes in. My question is how deep should the planters be? Also, any insight on planting rose bushes would be great.

I always preferred to plant them in raised beds. The soil should have almost equal parts of manure, humus, potting soil and sand. Roses need good drainage so make sure it wont get waterlogged in the pot.

The other problem is you don't want it to dry out too much so you have the combination of good drainage and not drying out means frequent watering if it is in a pot. In a raised bed you don't have to water as much.

I usually put some bone meal in the hole before I planted my roses.
