I am going to try my first Brisket this weekend. I figure it's time now that I've had my smoker about a year and read every thread on here about the proper way to do it.
I'm gonna throw a few racks of baby backs and some sausage on as well.
Oh my god that looks amazing! I was just showing a couple of girls the "BBQ porn" that can be found on Hornfans. I guess that everyone has explained the "How To"s so well that it's possible to hit a homerun in your first at-bat. Nice job.
PS- great keychain in one of the early pics. It adds a touch of sophistication to spread.
I have done chicken, ribs, sausage and even the bacon explosion but never done brisket until this weekend. When I sliced it open and saw the smoke ring I knew I had it right.
I owe many thanks to Hornian and BrisketTexan for the expert instructions.
Great job for first time. my first time I did not have all of the knowledge from this great site. I had always helped my dad but just kind did what he said and never really paid that much attention to temps, time, etc. I just threw a log on when told and so forth. One day my dad said you've helped me long enough, it's your turn. He would just do what i said and nothing else. It came out okay (nothing like that) and after that my dad would meke suggestions on what he thought, or answer questions, but he said it was still my bbq. The first couple attempts were interesting but some of the best times of hanging with my dad. I have since done many a brisket and do a pretty good job. J
ust think it will only get better and you can add your own twists to it if you want. It is pretty gratifying knowing that you took a tough piece of meat and made it wonderful. Great job and good luck on your future BBQ!
