Plano/Frisco Bars

I just moved to the area (Preston/Spring Creek) in Plano and I am looking for some bars that I can take a cab from my place to. It looks like I am close to Varsity Club, End Zone, 3rd Base, Down Under Pub to name a few. Any of those good? Do the bars all close at 1am? I am more into Dives/regular people than the 30,000 a year millionaires with spiked hair.

There isn't too much outside of the douchey places you mentioned. I haven't been to 3rd Base, but I hear it is good for sports i.e. has a shitload of HDTV's.

I am surprised an Old Monk or Idle Rich style bar hasn't popped up out here...or a BW3 at least.

I have been meaning to check out this new place a Shops at Legacy: Gordon Biersch Brewery

I hate Addison, but The Londoner or Flying Saucer aren't bad.

as mentioned already, the Shops at Legacy has a few. Gordon Bierch, Fox Sports Grill, etc..

Austin Avenue in Plano is a great place to play pool and catch the NFL games on Sunday. There is also a dive bar called Bullwinkles at Spring Creek and Custer. They converted an old Burger King into a bar and they have a ton of beers on tap

Was headed to Down Under Pub last night, but the cab driver said they close at 1 and hard to get a cab late at night there. So we had him take us to Austin Ranch and went to Zen and Cafe Gecko. Both places where okay.

Austin Avenue is a great place to get a drink and hang out.

The words "cab" and "Plano" in the same sentence don't happen very often.

Born and raised in McKinney and it does sound weird about someone taking a cab from their place to Plano/Frisco to go to a bar. We tend to just get in our car and drive the the bars.

If I get a DWI I can not do my job and would be fired, so I like to be able to take cabs to bars.

You moved into the wrong area if you care much about going to non-douchy bars.

HOWEVER... Martini Park @ Legacy is drunk, divorced coug central. AWFUL people for the most part, but hot and dumb at the same time, so its a wash.

actually, the ratio of douchey bars in Plano/Frisco is equal to the rest of the supposedly "hip" Dallas areas(uptown, for instance).

Just go have a good time. Shops at Legacy is just fine..

I've never been to the Varsity Club, but I get mailers for them all the time. Seems like it would make a decent sports bar in a pinch. They do close at 1 though.
