Places to hunt?

I'm in my last year of law school, and don't have the money for a big time lease. Is there anywhere in the central texas area that I can hunt for a relatively low cost? Thanks in advance

Try dove hunting. Really inexpensive (comparatively), and loads of fun. Don't have to wake up early, or freeze your *** off either.

Look in the papers around July or August. Season starts on Labor Day weekend.

Dove hunting is great. Only thing you have to worry about is to make sure you don't get discouraged and quit. No matter how long you have been hunting dove, you will miss way more then you hit. That is unless you are one of the guys on a hunting show. I love how they edit the video and make it look like they got their 15 bird limit on only 15 shots. I would pay good money to see someone shoot that well.

check out Texas Parks and Wildlife

You can buy the annual public hunting permit and dove hunt on public lands. You can also enter a draw to win a weekend hunt on public lands for deer.

Just outside of town there's the Granger Wildlife Management Area that has some decent deer. They transplanted them from South Texas a few years ago and from what I've heard they have some decent size deer up there.

As for dove hunting, you can do that around Granger lake and around Lake Georgetown. If you buy the annual hunting permit, they send you a map booklet of the public hunting lands.
