Pittman to Return

Fantastic news. I've said since before the season started that he would have the opportunity to go pro and we'd be wise to use him while we could. I'm still surprised that he didn't at least test the waters, but I'm really glad that he's coming back.

Welcome back Dex!

what is the deal with enough available roster spots? I keep reading that on boards but does this mean that now if Damion returns AND we get the 4 new guys that there will be a game of musical chairs and someone will have to leave (or we can only take 3 newcomers)?

great news - with his attitude and dedication, seems like he can be the type of leader that our team will need next year.

tear it up, Dex

This ... is great news. It's also the first stroke of post-season luck Barnes has had at Texas (excluding recruiting commitments, that is).

I'm beginning to see the light behind SLX's lofty expectations for the 2009-10 season.

Thank you, Dex. Now get to work and get ready to dominate!

You are so right, GemState.

We have had so many kids leave early, so many not make it in.

It has been frustrating. Maybe we are ready for so good news like people staying an extra year and a couple of Final Fours.

Yeah, actually there was. I thought he'd at least submit his name for the draft without hiring an agent.

He has potential that is for sure. But he often runs out of gas and has to be taken out of the game due to his stamina issues. He also only came on very late in the season.

Seemed like a no-brainer to me in terms of a guy who absolutely needed another year to work on his game and get himself ready physically for the NBA.

This is great news-college basketball is a shell of what it once was, all due to so many players leaving early. It is very hard to get into the sport as a fan, for me. You get two or three teams which consider themselves good enough to compete for the NC, so their players stay around until they are seniors, like North Carolina, and the other good players leave after their freshmen years.

As I've mentioned before....Drafting in the NBA is so much different than the NFL. So many guys get drafted in the NBA based on measurables and potential without too much concern put into what they've actually done on the court. It was one of the biggest problems with high school kids going right into the draft. I think it should be taken seriously that Dexter could have gone into the draft. He is a big man with soft hands and can move well. That is good combination on it's own for "potential to draft"...but then you toss in the late season monster Dexter became and I know that I was worried about him leaving.

Great news. We some experienced players on the team next year given the potentially large number of new players we will see on the court.

I am excited that Dexter chose to continue his improvement at UT. This looks like a situation where both Dex and the Horns will benefit.
