Pirates of the Caribbean 3

I was bored and got that on movies on demand on DISH. It was so so bad. Wow. Not only that but it made very little sense. Did it flop at the movies?

I think each of the "Pirates!" series did worse than its predecessor at the box office. Same with entertainment value.

I loved Pirates 1, wasn't too satisified with 2, and I haven't even seen 3. In hindsight they probably should have just stopped at 1, but that would have left a lot of money on the table.

Got it from Netflix. Haven't watched yet. I'll be sure to stock up on some rum in preparation. What do you suggest, about a gallon?

Wow, I thought it was just me. I can count the number of movies on 1 hand that I have walked out of or not finished the DVD - and this is one of them.

Depp completely changed the accent in 3, and essentially phoned in his performance. I agree that sequels paled in comparison to the first one.

Loved the first one, enjoyed the second one even though it dragged a little, couldn't finish the 3rd on. Stopped the DVD less than midway through.

POTC was supposed to make sense?

It's probably one of the ten worst movies I've ever seen. the plot is . . . well, there seemingly is no plot. The entire thing is just an excuse for some CGI effects and a Keith Richards cameo.

And don't get me started about the "wedding" in the middle of a sword fight. Whatever writer came up with that idea should starve to death on the picket line.

ZERO chemistry between Keira and Orlando in POC3. In 1 there were at least some sparks between the two, and in POC2 she had a hot kiss with Depp. But in 3 these three leads seemed to be "mailing it in".

I'd rather watch Aliens 3 than watch this abomination again. Hell, I'd even Watch "You've Got Mail" instead of this, and YGM is one of the most

films of all time. Dayum, I think I even prefer "The Postman" over POC3...but not "Battlefield Earth."

I watched it on Blue Ray and was able to tolerate it. Of course, I do not demand that much from movies, but making Kiera the Pirate King and that whole section was not too good.

I think you all are smoking crack. I really enjoy all three movies. Jack Sparrow is a great character.

I thought 3 was overly long, but better than 2 -- but that says more about how crappy 2 was than the quality of 3. At least 3 had a bit of a narrative drive to it. 2 was all over the place.

I loved the first one. One of my favorite movies of the last few years. It was just plain fun.

The second one had its moments and was pretty well tolerable. Decent flick, nothing to write home about.

The third one sucked balls. Horrible plot (if you accept the argument that there was one), very little fun happening, visually overwrought and disappointing performances from the main characters.

I'm glad it wasn't just me confused.

I loved the first one. 2 I thought was pretty good, entertaining, glad I saw it, would watch it again for free. 3 was OK, I didn't HATE it, but too many wtf moments and too much cutesy nonsense. The part with the 20 Captain Jacks on the Pearl in the desert was excruciating.

And WAY too many "allegiance shift" moments. It's like wrestling, back in the day, someone was a good guy or bad guy for years, so switching was huge. Then they decided since people loved the switches, let's do em every few months, and they lost all power. I quit bothering even trying to follow who was allied with who and why, and figured it would just straighten out by the end.

Keira Knightley is sick ******* hot, though.

I'm not sure that I accept the premise that there was a plot. If there was one, then it was not readily discrenable to the viewer. The entire movie just meandered from scene to scene without any cohesion as to where it was going or why. When you left the theatre, you were left honestly wondering, "what in the hell did I just watch".

I will say that the end of the battle scenes was awesome though. I love how they killed off the english general (can't think of his character name). "...just good business.."

I also thought the two english soldiers were great comic relief. The part I thought was overrated was the whole lady of the sea thing. So we go through all of this to release her and we get nothing more than a giant whole in the water to fight in?

^ Not only that, but only 1 ship from each side charges to fight instead of the English ships taking the fight to the enemy and blowing the whole ragged fleet out of the water. Then to top off the stupidity they both decide to sail right into the whirlpoor instead of navigating around it. Almost like they knew they were in a movie and wanted to make dumbass decisions so the fight would have cooler CGI.

POTC is a lot like the Matrix. Very good 1st movie, and neither of the sequels should have been made. The only good thing I can say about POTC3 was....actually not sure if there is anything....well, it was better than Dune.
