Pineapple Express Sucks

<red> wasssuuup.... yall wanna buy some DRUGS?</red>

or

<red> trying to get a ************* scholarship! </red>

two lines off the top of my head that make me laugh.

it is a pot movie, but there are some funny parts...

Funny this came up again because I just watched in again for the 2nd time on DVD last night. Liked it okay in the theater. Upon re-watching it, not impressed. It couldn't hold me and it dragged on for awhile at the end there. One big gay joke.

That movie was hilarious. The scene where Franco puts his leg through the windshield had me rolling both times I saw it.

I am curious how many people who hated Pineapple Express (like me) LOVED Superbad (like me).

It isn't like we don't like the genre or actors. It was just a bad bad movie.

“Apatow needs to take a couple of years off.”

In Development

Untitled Sherlock Holmes Project

A Whole New Hugh

Untitled Judd Apatow/Bo Burnham Project
Get Him to the Greek

(If Leslie Mann were my gal, I’d re-think that schedule.)

And a few of the Apatow titles missing from this thread since “The 40 Year Old Virgin”-

Funny People
Year One
Step Brothers
Drillbit Taylor
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

I didn’t care for PE (Netflix “watch instantly”). Too much meandering dialogue for me. The violence was off too. (Shane Black’s “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” being a fine example of that sort of thing. That and having Michelle Monaghan dress it up.)

The “PG” rated parts of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” may be Apatow’s best work to date. Rachel (Mila Kunis) feeding Peter (Jason Segel) cake and a kiss is award worthy. And filming Russell Brand always seems to be a worthwhile endeavor. (Soon to star in “Get Him to the Greek”.)

Apatow is the current Blake Edwards. I’m old enough now that some of Apatow's **** doesn’t register with me like some of Blake’s didn’t register with adults in the day (“10” or “S.O.B” or “Skin Deep” anyone?). At 87, Blake E is revisiting “10”. Apatow is 42.
