I've always wondered what would happen if a bullet went through the cabin of an aircraft..Good thing no one was injured!

thought those pilots were supposed to be highly trained ex-military types who could handle a gun.
 
Actually, the training is excellent, not by ex-military types, but by current federal officers. Unfortunately, all the training in the world isn't going to keep some jackass from acting like an idoit from time to time.

In general, I'm a fan of the program, but I still think some innocent pilot will be killed long before a terrorist is.
 
There was a CNN report that said there are a lack of air marshals and the pilots have to spend around $3,000 of their own money for the training. And I don't think its mandatory.

It's the room and board that comes out of pocket for pilots. Plus the airlines don't give time off for the course, you have to take vacation for it.
 
If the idea of a barricaded door to the pilots is to prevent anyone from taking over the plane how would the armed pilot ever be able to stop someone from killing the passengers?

Im ok with armed guards on a plane. but the pilots job is to fly the plane and land it safely.
 
That baricaded door comes open from time to time. Pilots have to eat and piss just like everyone else.

Also, to clarify, there is no circumstance ever where a pilot would come out of the cockpit with his gun to deal with a situation. It's purely for defending the cockpit from inside the cockpit. Period.
