I am very happy about this hire. Coach Pierce has the qualification that I prize that very few, if any, of our other "candidates" have - he grew up in Houston, he played HS baseball in Houston, and he coached HS baseball in Houston. There is no other city in the country where HS baseball is as big of a deal as in Houston. If you come thru there, you know what baseball is all about. He's gonna do very well here. I am looking forward to see what assistants he brings in. I hope he pulls at least 1 assistant who is currently a Houston-area HS coach.
