Phoenix/Tempe

It is Dallas with endless stripmalls. No character to it, everything is new. Urban sprawl at its finest.

That said, I like it there. If you are an outdoor type, it's a great city. Hiking, cycling, camping, golf, etc.

I am glad I don't live there, but I love visiting. If you don't mind parking lots, strip malls and lots of hot chicks with fake tits and attitudes, you'll be very happy there.

Neighborhoods: depends where you would be working. It can be a long commute. That said, North Phoenix/Scottsdale is a good area with nice home appreciation.

i spent about 6 months there working as a contractor and lived out of a hotel in scottsdale. absolutely loved it. its one of the few places i'd leave texas for. beautiful city, nice recrecation, great restaraunts, bars, etc.

A friend of mine moved out there to take a job with a national labor/employment firm. He loves PHX. Cost of living is fairly high, but quality of life is pretty good. I've got some clients in PHX and am out there fairly often. I've always thought the people in PHX are really friendly. I would probably move out there before I ever thought about moving to Dallas or Houston.

Oh, and the eye candy is priceless.

I am starting grad school at ASU this fall...so if anyone else has any info...particularly about the Tempe area, I would be greatly appreciative.

I always thought Phoenix was relatively inexpensive? Like cheaper than Austin. I'm sure there are expensive parts, but as a whole........

Phoenix is pretty sprawlish.

lots of cash in the scottsdale area.
i like visiting, fantastic golf.
i dont mind the heat, but that's me.
