Philly Cheesesteak

I work in North Austin and for a few years now I've gone to Delaware Subs (on Parmer, between Mopac and Metric) for their Philly Cheesesteaks. I hadn't gone there for a while and today I was disappointed to find they were closed down. So now I'm wondering where I'm gonna get my Philly Cheesesteak fix. Does anyone know where a good Philly Cheesesteak can be had in North Austin? I've tried Jersey Mikes and although there's is passable, I thought Delaware Subs made the best ones. Maybe that had something to do with Jerry Sisemore playing for the Eagles, who knows?

What happened to that Delaware Subs? My old neighbor was the owner of that location I believe. One of the original founders.

Not sure... I was surprised to see some other sandwich shop there when I showed up today. I didn't even feel like trying them out... went to Pokejo's for bbq instead

Texadelphia blows...

Saccones Pizza has the best Philly hands down.
There is a location in Round Rock and on 620 near Anderson Mill.

I read that the delaware subs franchise broke up. so now each owner is on their own. the stores are still there, just different name. don't know how the menu is either since I haven't been to one since this happened. I used to love the italian, too bad

Delaware on Mesa is just the same (very good) as it was, and now they have some breakfast selections as well.

There are two Delaware Subs still in existence. As stated above, all of the stores that were franchised out are now under different names, but still in the same locations. I can't speak for all of them, but the one on 34th street and the one on Bee Caves now go by Capitol City Sub and are very similar to Delaware. I actually like the bread they use now over DS...it is baked fresh and you have the white or wheat option. Their Philly Cheese Steak is still the signature, and is a two for one special on the weekends.

Is there any place that actually makes them the correct way, with Cheez Whiz, instead of provolone/mozzarella cheese? That is what I am looking for and can never find.

Maybe, just maybe, I go to one of these places and order the sandwich with no cheese. then, I can just come home and pour cheez whiz. I may have just cured aids.

scottsins,
Where is the best Pilly Cheese in Temple/Belton?

I actually prefer white american cheese on mine, which is odd because otherwise I think white american cheese is nasty...

I've never had one but i've seen the travel station show about the two Philly cheesesteak restaaurants across the street from each other. They look good. What else is on em besides beef and cheese?

mangia's cheesesteak is in fact pretty solid

nothing holds a candle to hog island -- not in north austin though

That's what they did forever, but about four years ago they started bringing in 'half baked' bread. It just never held together like the original. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't the same.
