I'm going to be in Philadelphia for three days and State College, P.A. for two days (first time for both). Any recommendations beyond what I already have planned: Philly- Tacconnelli's Pizza, Alma de Cuba restaurant, Reading Terminal Market, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall?

State College: The Berkey Creamery at PSU

For cheesesteak, Pat's or Geno's or another? A good local brew-pub? Is scrapple worth it? I will be taking a car from Philadelphia to State College so any recommendations along the way would be greatly appreciated.

Philadelphia Museum of Art is worth a trip, and not just for the Rocky steps. Be prepared to wait a little at the bell and Independence Hall, there are crowds in the summer.

Pat's & Geno's is great for the experience but there are lots of great cheesesteaks all over. I like Nick's on 2nd St between Chestnut and Market. While at Reading Terminal Market, get some mac & cheese at Delilah's.

Drive to SC is pretty straightforward, take the PA Turnpike to Harrisburg and then 322 up the mountain (very scenic).

We went to the Art Museum almost as an afterthought, and it blew me away. So much more than "paintings on the wall" (though they have that too.

It would take too long to describe it, but they've got entire structures from various civilizations across the world rebuilt inside the museum. It really is unbelievable, and plan on at least half a day there.

My favorite cheesesteak was actually Jim's, on 4th and South.

We also had a surprisingly good dim sum lunch at Ocean Harbor in Chinatown.

I live in State College. Not much here in the way of great tourist attractions when there is no football game. I would say try to visit the Penn State sports museum (it's built into Beaver Stadium). Will you be here for Arts Fest? Cause that is its own SUPER crazy thing.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will be in State College this weekend for Art Fest. I plan on representing UT (slowly) in burnt orange on the 10K run on Sunday.
