she needs to work on finishing with her left when shooting layups from the left side.

But, really, holy smokes, is she good.

Not just a scorer but a passer.

Congrats on her and her team winning the 3A state championship.

We just got back and are rather proud of her!! A state title, 43 points, the all time scoring record for a title game in Texas, and MVP !!

She set the all time scoring record for 3A. Surely 43 points isn't the all time all class scoring record, is it? With all the great players that have come through Texas, it's hard to believe that is the most anyone has ever scored. Nevertheless, congratulations Miss Little on your 3A record and your state championship!

No, that is not the all-time all-class scoring record. I remember a 1-A player from Baird who scored either 61 or 64 points (I can't remember for sure which.) It was a long time ago.

I don't want to be a party pooper, but the Abilene Reporter-News is wrong if they are saying that 43 points is the all-time highest score by a player in the title game. Don't they still publish the records in the tournament program? As I said, I was at the finals game when the Baird girl score over 60 points, and I'm not at all sure that is the highest of all time.

Not to take anything away from Peyton. We need a scorer at Texas and it definitely sounds like she is one! Congrats to Wylie.

Ok, let's get this settled.
The girl from Baird, Paula Corn, scored those in 6 on 6 basketball which, as I recall, was half court. She did it in 1964. Hers was not the highest either as several others scored more in the 6 on 6 half court era until the very late 70's when it changed to 5 on 5 full court. I'm pretty sure the change was 1978.
Peyton did indeed set the record for a state TITLE game by scoring 43 today. The Abilene paper is not the only one reporting it, everyone, including the UIL is. We were all there and they announced it as a UIL state championship game record for 5 on 5.
Yes, count me as a little biased (wonder why?!

) but it is a title game 5 on 5 record. Frankly, she didn't really care about that, only the state championship!

Here's a Link to the 6 on 6 records. Scroll down to the 63 pt. games and Paula Corn in the Class A Championship Game.

6 on 6 in 1964 does not compare to today's game in basketball.

My understanding on Jones is that Texas is recruiting her hard.

And congrats to Peyton for setting the scoring record.

Hey OrangeForLife, if you have a UIL program, can you please post the championship game points record for each conference? Just out of curiosity.

Thanks, Beveaux. I saw that on the UIL site, but it doesn't appear up to date. It lists Canyon's last championship as 2001 and Nazareth's before that. I looked all over their site and couldn't find anything up to date. It looks like they've dropped the ball, records wise.
