Peyton Little to Transfer

Little, who was once verbally committed to Texas, is transfering from A&M. I wonder if she is looking at Texas. Numbers are tight so I'm not sure if we would have room.

would love to see her as a Longhorn. Should have room for one more player, if I figured numbers correctly.

aggies really ragged on her during the season.

LMFAO!

Sorry, would rather not go there personally. Here's a player who probably thinks she's better than she is. I was not a fan of the way sh e decommitted from Texas, and then promptly committed to A&M.

Why would A&M approve an intra-conference transfer to a rival? I'd like to see PL back at Texas where she really belonged in the first place.

ummmmmm. Peyton Little. I was very disappointed when she went to A&M. Now I'm not so sure. She was a mad bomber in high school---tremendous range on her 3s. But she only hit 28% of her three point shots this year in the big leagues, and that was supposed to be her thing. The Aggies have 2 or 3 frosh with better shooting stats than Little, and they are faster, too. So maybe she figured her future was limited there. I saw her play a little on TV. She looked OK, but not like one of the really top freshman guards I saw on the Aggies and other Sweet 16 teams. She would have played a lot for Texas last year, but that isn't saying much, to be honest. If she could hit the 3 consistently the way she was supposed to, she would be valuable as a spot up shooter on the wing.

Even when she was a Texas commit, I thought she was overrated based on recruting rankings. She only shot 32.1% from beyond the arc as a junior; and, high school players don't typically have problems getting wide open for their shots.

In an A&M recruiting class with so many guards, I was pretty sure not all would spend all 4 years on campus unless a few redshirted in order to stagger the numbers a bit.

We'll see if she ends up in the Big 12; I'm thinking OU or Tech, although Iowa State could actually be a good fit for her, as well.

I’m not sure what's going on at A&M, but this year they lost Alexia Standish because she "lost passion for the game," Kelsey Bone who still had one year of eligibly left, and Peyton Little. To top that off, their highly ranked PG recruit from the 2015 class, Kyra Lambert, de-committed yesterday. All of these players were/are ranked in the top 30 of their class.

Some of their freshman did play well, but Blair has always been know for having excellent rapport with his players. These players leaving is an indication to me that he's not as in tune with the program as he has been in the past. Not sure just how old he is, but I'm guessing he's mid-60's or older. Last year he lost one of his long time assistants when Vic Schaefer took the head coaching position at Mississippi State. His wife still teaches at the nursing school at the University of Arkansas. I don't think she's ever moved to College Station. He has his national championship. Unless he signs a top post player next year or unless one on his current roster improves dramatically over this next year, I think he will hang it up and go out while his teams are still somewhat competitive.

I gotta say, Petyon certainly moves faster now than she did a couple of years ago.

Back in April 2011 she decommits from Texas, and in two weeks commits to Texas A&M.

This time around, it only takes one week to announce she is transferring from A&M before deciding to go to OU. All this while still a student at A&M as the Spring semester isn't even over.

Darrnit, Texas could have used Peyton's speed... it was obvious OU was her choice as she really enjoyed her recruiting trip to OU prior to select aggy.

I won't go into details here but I ask you to trust me on this... this transfer was an absolute necessity in so many ways I cannot begin to count them all. Let's just say "no looking back".

I won't try to stop the "haters" and uninformed and their derogatory remarks. I get it. It's the age of the internet.

However, Peyton has made the right decision. Things don't always work out like you thought they would or situations and cultures be like you had hoped.

Peyton had a family connection at OU and knows and understands the situation there. Her Uncle David was an all-big 8 player for OU and is a successful attorney in the area now. I'd have loved to see her at Texas but this is a good decision that was very well thought out. This is a GREAT Christian young lady from a wonderful family and she is not self-centered as one here suggested. In fact, she is far from that and if this person knew the real reasons behind this they would (I hope) feel ashamed of their "assumptions".

Peace.

Bevaux I recall you posting a few things when Peyton initially committed to Texas, and then de-committed and ultimately signed with the ags. I also recall you felt Texas would have been a better place for her, and were disappointed she chose a&m. But it was her decision and you accepted that, and I certainly believe everything you say now with respect to her transfer to OU. She is just one of many who've left one program for another; in fact, it happens all the time. No doubt she felt she was making the right decision when she joined the ags, but circumstances change. We all know things don't always turn out as we expect based on what we know going into a situation. And hey at least your instincts about a&m not being the right place for her turned out to be correct

. And I don't mean that in an "I told you so" kind of way because you don't seem like that type of person. What I do mean is that being an aggie is never the right choice for anyone!

There are lots of "wonderful" and religious kids and families who do not handle the recruiting process very well in the eyes of fans. Decommitments and transfers happen across all sports, for all different types of reasons.
Say what you will, she left Texas high and dry when she decommitted in April 2011 after having been committted for a while; she goes on the record as saying she was too young to have committed when she did (that's when the family should have orginially intervened). Then, from all indications, she "hastily" commits to A&M in early May 2011.

So, it shouldn't come as a surprise that her decision to attend A&M didn't work out. There's a pattern of indecision and haste that continues to repeat itself.

Even her high school coach had made comments about how she handled the recruiting process back in 2011:

The Link

Less than a month after decommitting from the University of Texas and reopening her recruitment to other schools, Wylie guard Peyton Little has made a verbal commitment to play her college basketball at Texas A&M.

Verbal commitments are nonbinding, and Little, a senior-to-be, can't sign a national letter of intent until the NCAA's early signing period in November. But Wylie coach Tri Danley said he believes this announcement officially ends his star guard's recruitment.

"Her and her parents sat down and made this decision. They called all of the other schools that were recruiting her and let them know that this was the direction they were going," Danley said. "I felt like her committing last summer was pretty early, and now that this has come up again, I told her that she needs to make sure this is it, this is her final decision. She has assured me that it is."

Its not about hate. Its about the meaning of commitment. Fact is she now has spurned 2 programs already. Not interested in the reasons.

I don't think anyone questions the fact her initial recruiting process could have been handled better. But it happens, and apparently (IIRC) she had significant family histories/relationships with 3-4 different programs. No doubt she was getting a lot of varying opinions from many different quarters. And once she committed some probably kept at her by saying..."are you sure?"...."did you give this enough thought?"...."you sure did commit early"...."are you sure you gave so-and-so a close enough look?" That's all conjecture but likely true, and the amount of information and pressure that is thrown at these recruits is considerable given their age. I don't know how old she was when she first gave her word to Texas but I guess around 15. If anything it is the parents that should have given her better guidance, but perhaps it was all new to them as well. In the end it was within her rights to de-commit - she hadn't signed yet - and it is also okay for her to transfer now. There are athletes who have done one or the other, and many who have done both. And I think several of us actually predicted a&m would lose some from that class. They signed 6 guards, with something like three or four already on the roster. I felt it was highly unfair (to the recruits) to bring that many into the program. 6 guards in a single class? Ridiculous. Whatever the case I don't think it's fair or appropriate for anyone to cast Peyton in a negative light. Not to mention that she does have family members who are Texas fans and who regularly attend games.

I agree, overseas, too much is made of her original decommittment from Texas. While I wish she had come here either time, I wish her the best as an OU Sooner. People change their minds all the time and a lot of it is finding a fit that works. Not everyone gets it right the first, second or third time. Witness all the job hopping that goes on from people much older than she is.

Thought it might be interesting to visit this now that Peyton is playing her sophomore season at ou.
YTD Big 12 games: 15ppg
Last eight Big 12 games: 20.4 ppg, including 30 last night on 8/10 shooting on 3 pointers.
Still wish we had her.

Every kid has their right to choose where to play and even to change their mind. I could care less about how nice she is or whatever. She didn't come to Texas so who cares? She was looking for a team to be THE leader. She didn't want to be anyone's sidekick. She thought she had that at A&M, but realism hit when she didn't get that much playing time and other girls were doing better. She is doing great at OU and that's great! She is getting what she wanted by shooting the ball every time it's in her hands and we got what we wanted by having a team full of TEAM players that chose to go to the best school in the Nation! Sorry, not sorry.

Hilarious reply.
Not worth it with your kind, as you shoot from the hip and have no facts. If you had a clue about what went/goes on with the a$m women's team you might sit up and listen, but with a closed mind, I doubt it.

There had been rumors about a&m that people have been throwing around at UT for years. I think we all know what they are. I don't buy that crap at all, the fact is she was never going to start over Courtney Williams or Courtney Walker they're better than she is period. Which in my opinion is why she transferred.
